Perils Of Living On The Beach

Most of us love the idea of owning a piece of Honolulu HI real estate right on the beach. We see it as a marked departure from living in the city; putting Mississauga condos for sale and moving to paradise seems like the perfect getaway to a life of leisure. However, living on the beach does not necessarily mean living a hassle free life. There are issues unique to homes along the beach front which many people don't think about before they buy. We're going to go over a few of them here.

The first big problem with beach living is one of pests. Just like people, many kinds of small animal are attracted to the ocean front. Some of their reasons are different (easy access to food) but some are the same; it's a lot easier for some animals to make their homes in the warm sand than in the dirt further inland. Hawaii has its share of problems in this area, different than people who own Toronto beaches real estate or beach front property in other spots in the world. Sand flies, rats, and mice are all major thorns in the sides of people who own their own bunkers or cabins in Honolulu, problems which no one has yet figured out how to solve.

Animals aren't the only pests either. Your neighbors can probably tell you that the beaches of Hawaii are covered in human nuisances twelve months a year. They wander through your property, take up space right in front of your home, they might even party into the night when you are trying to sleep. Calling the police is one way to deal with some of the problems, but for the most part you will be stuck wishing the revelers had bought a cottage for sale in Balsam Lake instead of taking their trip to Hawaii.

Damage from the elements is yet another thing many don't consider when they think about beach front living. Exteriors of homes are particularly vulnerable to the wind coming off of the water, with the bits of sand mixed in acting as abrasives. Even if there weren't sand on the breeze, you can bet that there is some salt. There is hardly anything in the natural world more corrosive than salt, and it will work away at your home and your vehicles too. If you have a van advertising Muskoka catering on the side, don't expect to read the sign for more than a couple of months if you park near to the ocean.

Finally, you may also have to worry about erosion. Some people who own Scarborough bluffs homes can tell you all too well about the problems erosion can cause for property owners. Those waves that seem so peaceful can also cause a lot of damage!
